From Dr. W. Conrad Liles
On December 20, 2011, I will leave the University of Toronto and University Health Network (UHN) to assume the position of Associate Chair of Medicine at the University of Washington. A search is underway to fill my previous roles as Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases for the Univeristy of Toronto and the University Health Network.
During the search process, Dr. Irving Salit (irv.salit@uhn.ca) wil serve as the Interim Director of the UHN Division of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Kevin Kain (kevin.kain@uhn.ca) will serve as Interim Director of the University of Toronto Division of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Phil Marsden (pmarsden@utoronto.ca) has assumed my previous position of Vice-Chair of Medicine for the Univeristy of Toronto. Michele Knight (michele.knight@uhn.ca) will continue to serve as the administrative assistant for both the hospital and university divisions during the search process. Re: Interim Head of Division of Infectious Disease
We are pleased to announce that Dr Irving Salit has agreed to serve as Interim Head of the combined Division of Infectious Disease at Mount Sinai and UHN. Dr. Salit is Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Director of the Immunodeficiency (HIV) Clinic at the Toronto General Hospital. His research interests also include the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and screening tests for HPV-associated Anal Cancer. Dr. Salit has frequently travelled to Russia as part of a CIDA-funded project (The Canada AIDS Russia Project), a multidisciplinary project based in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Current international health activities are taking place in Ukraine and in Shanghai, China.
We would like to thank Dr Conrad Liles for his outstanding work as Hospital Division Head and University Division Director of Infectious Disease for the past 5 years. Dr Liles recently left Toronto to return to Seattle, but will continue some ongoing research here. A Search Committee is actively looking for a new Division Head.
